Doctors and aid workers inside Gaza are reporting the highest levels of malnutrition in children they have ever seen as the hunger crisis reportedly continues to worsen.

This month, the hunger that has been building among Gaza’s more than 2 million Palestinians passed a tipping point into accelerating death, aid workers and health staff say. Not only children — usually the most vulnerable — are falling victim under Israel’s blockade since March, but also adults.

As Gaza’s hunger crisis deepens, the very people who are trying to keep the gravely malnourished population alive are suffering along with their patients.

Supplies of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food, a crucial treatment, would be depleted by mid-August if nothing changed.

Children in Gaza are enduring catastrophic living conditions, including severe food insecurity and malnutrition. UNICEF is calling for safe and unrestricted access.

More than 1,000 people have also been killed by Israeli gunfire near aid distribution sites in Gaza, according to the United Nations.
