A 23-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his mother in their home in Avon, Massachusetts, after police say he admitted to killing her. Thadeus Joseph was ordered held without bail after he was arraigned on a murder charge Wednesday in Stoughton District Court in the death of 53-year-old Astrid Joseph.

Astrid Joseph was identified by officials as the woman killed in Avon. She was found dead in a home on Nichols Avenue in Avon at 4:22 p.m. on March 4. A household member called 911 to report an unresponsive woman who needed medical help in the home, the office said.

Avon police and fire officials responded at 4:22 p.m. to the Nichols Avenue home after a 911 call “from a household member about an unresponsive female in need of medical assistance,” according to a statement from the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office.
