As the first phase of the truce in Gaza ends, the two sides are continuing negotiations but also preparing for a possible return to war.

Israel said Sunday it has stopped the entry of all humanitarian aid into Gaza until Hamas agrees to a US-backed extension of the ceasefire deal, after phase one of the deal expired on Saturday.

Israel wants to extend the first phase of the deal with Hamas, rather than begin negotiations over the more politically fraught second stage.
