All diversity, equity and inclusion federal employees are to be placed on paid leave no later than Wednesday evening, the Trump administration ordered Tuesday as it continued its attack on DEI initiatives and programs.

Trump’s administration moved to end affirmative action in federal contracting and directed that all federal DEI staff be put on paid leave and eventually be laid off—the first salvo in an aggressive campaign to upend DEI efforts nationwide.

Employees in any federal diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility offices will be placed on paid administrative leave “effective immediately,” according to a post from White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
