Weiss Hospital will be removed from the Medicare and Medicaid programs Friday, and a report suggests it could face closure.

On Thursday morning, the emergency waiting room at the Uptown hospital was deserted, and some of the offices had signs reading “permanently closed.”

New questions have emerged about the future of Weiss Hospital in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, with the facility's Medicare funding expected to be withdrawn on Friday. The day prior, hospital visitors were greeted by a locked front door and a sign directing them to the professional building a block away.
