Miran is a rarity, a highly trained economist who makes a logical-sounding case for Trump’s stunningly contrarian game plan.

Miran has been a major defender of Trump’s income tax cuts and tariff hikes. He also has played down the risk of Trump’s tariffs generating higher inflation.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said he’s chosen Stephen Miran, who heads the Council of Economic Advisers, to serve in the recently vacated seat until Jan. 31.
