A dog is dead after a Lansing police officer shot them while trying to arrest a man in connection with a larceny complaint.

The Lansing Police Department (LPD) has opened an internal investigation after two police officers shot a dog when it bit them during a traffic stop of a theft suspect. LPD said in a Facebook post yesterday that they are aware of a video being shared on social media showing the incident

Officers from the Lansing Police Department were attempting to arrest a man wanted for stealing around 3:15 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17 near East Kalamazoo Street and South Francis Avenue, according to reporting from WILX and the Lansing State Journal.
