With 11 medals and counting, Manitoban athletes are taking over Italy's Piedmont Region with the largest delegation from the province so far at the Special Olympics World Winter Games.

Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy, kicked off on March 6 with a gala dinner, where guests bid on one-of-a-kind auction items, including hand-painted Vespa Primaveras.

The 24-year-old completed the course in 1:57.450, more than two seconds ahead of the runner up, Mexico’s Alejandro Elias Gonzalez.

Indian athletes had a brilliant fourth day of the competition, winning 13 medals across four different sports.
