Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker was set to deliver his State of the State address Wednesday morning.
Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker said the Trump administration’s actions cutting federal funding for various programs have cost the people of Illinois $8.4 billion.
In his eighth State of the State address, Gov. Pritzker focused on affordability issues affecting Illinois residents and blamed President Donald Trump for the state’s tight financial condition.
State Rep. Adam Niemerg, R-Dieterich, said the average employee’s salary has decreased 21% since Pritzker took office. Niemerg said utility bills have gone up 83% during the same period. “These are working people’s problems. He is an out-of-touch billionaire and he will not be the next president of the United States,” Niemerg said.
Illinois Governor JB Pritzker proposed a $56.1 billion budget for the upcoming fiscal year, which includes minimal new spending.
The governor will lay out his vision for Illinois’ spending, revenue, and cuts in a time when balancing the state budget may be trickier than ever. Lauren Victory reports.
