When it comes to the war in Ukraine, President Trump finds common cause with the world’s outlier states and stands against traditional U.S. allies like Britain, France, Germany, Canada, Japan and Italy.

The United States has joined Russia, Israel, Belarus and North Korea in refusing to blame Vladimir Putin for illegally invading Ukraine. Both Ukraine and the US produced rival resolutions at the UN General Assembly calling for an end to the conflict on the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of its neighbor.

Two motions were passed by the UN today as the world marks the third anniversary of Russia's invasion - with the US voting against one and abstaining on another.
