The California Republican Party are trying to get the U.S. Supreme Court to block congressional maps adopted in connection with Proposition 50.
In a victory for Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Democratic Party, a federal court ruled California can use its newly configured congressional district boundaries for the 2026 midterms.
The ballot measure, known as Prop 50, overrode the state’s normal redistricting commission to draw a new congressional map that would last until 2030. California voters adopted the measure with more than 60 percent of the vote in last year’s election.
