School voucher supporters say they have the votes to get a bill across both the Texas Senate, led by Patrick, and the House, which has repeatedly blocked such proposals.

On the heels of an election that solidified Republican dominance in the Texas Legislature, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said offering families state money for private school costs will be at the top of his agenda when the session begins in January.

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick on Friday said school choice will be his top priority when the state Senate gathers in January. Patrick said after the Senate introduces the state budget as Senate Bill 1, they would turn their attention towards the issue of school choice.
