Interim BBC director-general Rhodri Talfan Davies is stepping into a fresh crisis for the broadcaster this week, after its star DJ was fired over historical allegations of "serious sexual offences."

Presenter Scott Mills has confirmed he was investigated over a sexual offence, in his first statement since he was sacked from the BBC over allegations relating to his personal conduct.

Mills’ £360,000 a year contract was terminated within five days of the complaint being made.
