Rep. Russ Fulcher has a strong lead over Democrat challenger Kaylee Peterson with 71.5 percent of the votes. So far, Kootenai County voters have overwhelmingly voted for Fulcher with 72 percent of the votes. Elsewhere, Rep. Mike Simpson leads Democrat challenger David Roth with 59.2 percent of the votes.

If Prop 1 passes, the measure would make two big changes to the state’s elections. Instead of the closed Republican primary (and separate, but open, Democratic primary), all voters would participate in a single “blanket” primary.
