Millions of Americans were under winter weather advisories Wednesday morning as several states woke up to a fresh blanket of snow.

Multiple winter weather-related alerts are in place across parts of New York, as well as further south in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Heavy snow, freezing rain and temperatures as much as 35 degrees below seasonal averages are set to hit large parts of the United States as a string of storms confirm that winter is far from over.
