Green is a versatile, nature-inspired color that has the power to calm, ground, energize, and refresh and its various shades range from soft pastels to dark and moody hues.

Shades of green are trending in a big way right now. Could the color even dethrone black as the MVP of our closets? It’s well on its way, if the spring-summer 2025 collections are any indication.

In all, color experts estimate there are about 300 shades of green in nature. A leaf’s age, shape, health, location and other factors help determine its greenness.

Shades of green are greens mixed with colors from our other two cones. Take green plus a little red, and you get greenish yellow. Add a little blue, and you’ll see more of a shade of turquoise.
