Artemis II is preparing for launch from the Kennedy Space Center, where the rocket will carry the Orion spacecraft for a second time, this time with a crew on its journey to the moon.
“The Orion Waste Management System (WMS) features a full commode suitable for short to mid-length duration missions, offering both privacy and comfortable means for the astronauts to use the bathroom. It employs a small urine tank that is vented to space and replaceable canisters for solid waste storage,” a technical paper on Orion states.
NASA has released an animation detailing the Artemis II mission, a crewed test flight that will validate the Space Launch System and Orion spacecraft for deep-space travel beyond low Earth orbit.
NASA's moon mission Artemis II is all over the world. This mission will take humans around the Moon. This will happen for the first time in over 50 years. Artemis II is a test flight designed to push the limits of space travel. Orion, the new spacecraft, is ready for the challenge. This spacecraft will take astronauts to moon.
A small army of 34 international partners will use their own gear to track the Artemis II mission as it goes to the Moon and back.

NASA is about to send people to the moon — in a spacecraft not everyone thinks is safe to fly
As the four-person crew of Artemis II prepares to launch on a historic mission around the moon as soon as February, some experts are worried about the Orion spacecraft’s heat shield.
No one in NASA’s Artemis II crew had been born when astronauts last ventured into deep space for the final Apollo program Moon landing in 1972. For the last half-century, human space efforts have focused on science research and technology initiatives aboard low-Earth-orbit spacecraft, culminating with the Inter-national Space Station.
It also covers advanced aerospace programs and space capabilities. The market has reacted quickly, with defense stocks surging sharply this month as investors priced in the possibility of higher long-term defense spending.
