Donovan enters his sixth season as the coach of the Bulls, going 195-205 in his first five seasons in Chicago with one trip to the playoffs in 2022.

The contract extension was agreed upon weeks ago. On Sunday, it was simply Bulls coach Billy Donovan putting pen to paper. With the deal official, the Bulls have given extensions to the main players in the front office — executive vice president Arturas Karnisovas, general manager Marc Eversley and now Donovan.

Billy Donovan, the Bulls coach whom the Knicks were denied permission to interview after firing Tom Thibodeau, signed a multiyear extension to remain in Chicago, ESPN reported Sunday. Terms of the deal weren’t revealed, but negotiations started during last season, the outlet added.
