Byron Buxton, in the midst of an MVP caliber season, has also been having the healthiest year of his career. While we don't know a lot of information at this time, the Twins.TV broadcast reported that Buxton exited Saturday's game in the top of the seventh inning with soreness in his left side.
Ryan began his night with two clean innings, extending the Nationals' scoreless streak to 22 frames. But pinch hitter Alex Call, who came into the game due to an injury, put Washington on the board in the third with an RBI single. Luis Garcia Jr. then made it 2-0 with a bomb in the fourth.
The Minnesota Twins will likely be sellers before the MLB trade deadline, but it could be challenging to deal Byron Buxton and Carlos Correa.
Minnesota was the home of the first All-Star Week Home Run Derby in 1985, as Tom Brunansky took second while mashing dingers in the Metrodome. In 2008, Justin Morneau also made it to the big stage of the derby.

Buxton did more than something good. He became the first player to hit for the cycle at Target Field since the ballpark opened in 2010, helping ignite the Twins to a 12-4 win over the Pirates. It was the 12th cycle in Twins history and the first since Jorge Polanco had one in 2019.
