Anisimova, 23, will return to Centre Court for Saturday's final against No. 8 Iga Światek, who steamrolled Belinda Bencic, 6-2, 6-0. Anisimova is trying to become the first American to win a Grand Slam in London since Serena Williams' seventh and final Wimbledon title in 2016.

It was billed as the Wimbledon women’s final that no one expected, it finished as a match that American rising star Amanda Anisimova will want to forget.

The No. 13 seed stunned No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, to reach her first major final at Wimbledon. She will face either No. 8 Iga Switaek -- who routed unseeded Belinda Bencic 6-2, 6-0, – in Saturday’s championship. Swiatek will be bidding for her sixth major singles titles, and Anisimova her first.
