Matt Gorski belted a 115.2 mile-per-hour solo home run in the second inning of the Pittsburgh Pirates' showdown with the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday, making history right from the jump.

After getting recalled earlier in the day, Gorski hit a home run in his first MLB at-bat, something that hasn't been done in more than a decade.

The Pittsburgh Pirates made the long-anticipated decision to promote 2019 second-round draft pick Matt Gorski, an outfielder and first baseman out of Indiana. Gorski was ranked the Pirates' No. 17 prospect in 2023, but concerns over his pure hitting ability and strikeout rates kept him off the Top 30 list in 2024 and 2025.
