COLLEGE PARK, Md. (7News) — Voters head to the polls Tuesday for Prince George’s County’s special election. The Council’s District 5 seat is at stake, but most are closely watching the race for a new county executive, now that it has been vacated by new U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks.

The Trump administration is withholding $330 million in previously approved federal grant awards for about 30 Maryland transportation projects.

Residents considered a wide variety of issues when casting their votes, including education, transportation and senior citizen care.

Eleven candidates are vying to replace Angela D. Alsobrooks as county executive. The county is facing a looming budget deficit and more economic uncertainty under the Trump administration.
