After hiring Mike McCarthy’s old offensive coordinator, Brian Schottenheimer, as their new head coach, the Dallas Cowboys have begun the process of building out their coaching staff, with Matt Eberflus signing on as defensive coordinator marking the first shoe to drop in that process.

According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the Cowboys also interviewed Detroit Lions running backs coach Scottie Montgomery for their offensive coordinator opening, running the list of interviewed candidates to three coaches overall, including Adams and Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger.
ARIZONA -- Former Arizona Cardinals HC Steve Wilks will not be the Indianapolis Colts' defensive coordinator, as the organization is reportedly bringing on former Cincinnati Bengals DC Lou Anarumo.
The Cowboys also considered Browns offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey, Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger and Lions running backs coach Scottie Montgomery for the job before hiring Adams. Adams takes the job left by Schottenheimer’s promotion after he was elevated to the head coaching position following two seasons as the team’s OC.

Klayton Adams appears to be the top pick for the Dallas Cowboys open OC position — and for Cowboys haters, that might actually be unfortunate. After interviewing with the team recently, Adams is now interviewing with the team in person, according to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.
