Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has appointed Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody to be the state's next U.S. senator, making her the second woman to represent Florida in the chamber.

Moody, a former prosecutor and judge, has a record of “delivering results,” DeSantis said as he announced his choice at an Orlando hotel.

Under Florida law, it’s up to the Republican governor to pick Rubio’s replacement after Trump picked the three-term senator to be his next secretary of state.
