Several cities in the metro area have declared snow emergencies Wednesday as a spring storm left behind heavy snowfall.

Expect a slow commute this morning across the Twin Cities after a powerful snowstorm blanketed the metro with heavy, wet snow.

The National Weather Service said the storm will begin with rain on Tuesday afternoon before quickly transitioning to snow.
