THURSDAY, Feb. 28, 2025 (HealthDay News) -- Hours after billionaire Elon Musk told the president's Cabinet that the U.S. had quickly restored canceled aid to fight Ebola in Uganda, the Trump administration officially ended at least four of five U.S.-funded Ebola contracts in the country.
Ebola patient, a four-year-old child, has died in Uganda, the World Health Organization said, citing the country’s health ministry. The fatality brings the number of confirmed cases in Uganda to 10. The East African country declared an outbreak of the highly infectious and often fatal haemorrhagic disease in January after the death of a male nurse at the Mulago National Referral Hospital in the capital Kampala.
"We will make mistakes ," Musk said. "We won't be perfect, but when we make mistakes we'll fix it very quickly. For example, with USAID one of the things we accidentally cancelled, very briefly, was Ebola prevention."
