Akron police say a suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that left a mother and child dead on Saturday night.

According to the Akron Police Department, officers responded to a shooting just before 8:15 p.m. Dispatchers said they received multiple 911 calls, including from a woman who said she had been shot.

A 47-year-old mother and her 12-year-old son are dead, and a 28-year-old man is facing felony charges after a shooting in Akron Saturday night, according to Akron Police Lt. Michael Murphy.
