Bears agree to sign TE Durham Smythe
The Bears are signing veteran tight end Durham Smythe to a one-year deal Thursday, per NFL Network. Like Bears starter Cole Kmet, Smythe is a Notre Dame alum. He was picked in Round 4 of the 2018 NFL draft by the Dolphins, where he played under future Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who was the wide receivers coach.
Former Dolphins Tight End Signs With Chicago Bears
On Thursday, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Chicago Bears will be signing former Miami Dolphins tight end Durham Smythe to a one-year deal. The report also stated that Smythe will be reuniting with Ben Johnson, who was his wide receivers coach during his rookie year with the Dolphins.
