President Donald Trump raised levies on US imports of steel and aluminum to 50% from 25% as he ratcheted up his campaign to reshape the country’s trade ties with the rest of the world.

President Trump has doubled his tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from 25% to 50%. The new import taxes took effect overnight. They apply to nearly all U.S. trading partners, except for the U.K. CBS News chief White House correspondent Nancy Cordes has more on what's behind the decision.
