Firefighters have been battling blazes across the Panhandle and the northwest part of Oklahoma for days now. The majority of them aren't getting paid.

Nearly 300,000 acres have burned across Oklahoma as powerful winds and extremely dry air fueled fast-moving wildfires this week.

Ongoing wildfires and dangerous fire weather conditions continue to impact communities across Oklahoma, prompting the State Emergency Operations Center to remain activated.

There is now a fire warning issued for parts of western Washington County and eastern Osage County due to a large fire of approximately 100 acres. Winds are coming from the WNW currently, so smoke is being lofted to the east. Please avoid the area.

The fire danger continues in Oklahoma Thursday following wildfires in northwest parts of the state. Fire crews battled multiple wildfires Tuesday in Woodward, Beaver and Texas Counties. Residents were evacuated for some of these fires.
