The Republican-controlled U.S. Senate has voted to confirm Pam Bondi to serve as attorney general following her nomination to the role by President Donald Trump. Bondi was confirmed on a 54-46 vote by the full Senate. This comes as Senate Democrats postponed the vote by one week.

Although the department historically has insisted on remaining independent of the White House, Bondi made clear that she was working to overhaul a DOJ that Trump has insisted is both biased against him and against political conservatives in general.
