Rapper Busta Rhymes has been charged with assault in New York City after being accused of repeatedly punching another man in the face, according to police.

A New York Police Department spokesperson confirmed to USA TODAY on Thursday that the rapper-actor had turned himself in at a police station in Brooklyn on Tuesday night. Meanwhile, law enforcement sources have told editors at The New York Post that Busta's alleged victim was his personal assistant.

According to reports, the assault charge stems from a Jan. 10 incident in which a 50-year-old person was punched multiple times.
