LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A man accused of fatally shooting his neighbors in western Iowa died Friday. Dennis Burnell, 71, had suffered severe burns in a fire at his house during the shooting. The scene unfolded Wednesday night in Glenwood, a town of 5,000 people across the border from Plattsmouth, Nebraska.

The suspected shooter in a double homicide Wednesday in Glenwood has died of extensive burn injuries in a Kansas City hospital.

The suspect in a western Iowa double homicide and home explosion has died. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation announced on Friday that 71-year-old Dennis Burnell had died at the Kansas University Medical Center Burn Unit.
