Ghana's President John Mahama has promised a full investigation into Wednesday's helicopter crash that killed two government ministers and six other people.

Around 11 a.m., the helicopter crashed onto a docked barge about 200 yards downstream from the Melvin Price Lock and Dam No. 26 and caught fire upon impact. The barge was carrying ethylene glycol, a chemical commonly used in antifreeze and coolant.

The helicopter had taken off from Accra, the capital, en route to a mining conference when it went “off the radar,” the armed forces said.
