Texas’ Republican attorney general and a GOP Illinois state senator filed a petition in more conservative Adams County rather than where Texas lawmakers are located in suburban Chicago.

A lawsuit filed Friday in downstate Illinois seeks an order recognizing civil arrest warrants issued by the Texas House for Democrats who fled to Illinois to thwart a redistricting vote.

Illinois law enforcement officers should be allowed to arrest Texas House Democrats who have been staying in the Chicago area this week, Attorney General Ken Paxton argued in a lawsuit filed Thursday evening.
