The new season paid special tribute to the late voice actor at the end of the seventh episode. After the credits rolled, a photo of Hardwick with fellow King of the Hill voice actor Stephen Root (who voices Bill) was displayed, accompanied by text that read, "In Loving Memory…Johnny Hardwick."

Bobby and Connie reconnect over the past, but it’s their future as a couple that makes for a satisfying ending to the season.
