Mexico Begins Sealing 'Sophisticated' Border Tunnel Likely Used To Smuggle VIP Migrants
Mexican authorities have begun filling a tunnel crossing the border with the U.S. that experts say was likely used to smuggle drugs as well as VIP migrants paying tens of thousands of dollars to enter the country.
Mexico begins sealing up cross-border tunnel
On Monday, authorities began filling in the tunnel from the Mexican side. Members of Mexico’s National Guard and federal investigators could be seen securing area with yellow tape as crews crews used heavy machinery to remove some of the concrete slabs that created the entrance of the tunnel.

General Jose Lemus, commander of Ciudad Juarez's military garrison, said the tunnel "must have taken a long time" to build, suggesting "it could have been one or two years".
