The Buffalo Sabres have ruled out leading scorer Tage Thompson and starting goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen for Thursday night's home game against the St. Louis Blues.

Buffalo Sabres coach Lindy Ruff says defenseman Mattias Samuelsson is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Ruff called the severity of the injury “pretty strong."

Thompson’s injury is of particular concern to the Sabres, as he is tied for second in the NHL and leads the club with 11 goals, and represents another bit of déjà vu for the squad. Last season, Buffalo’s top center was injured at almost the exact time (November 14, 2023) against Boston, suffering a broken hand blocking a shot and missed nine games.
