Footage: when the Akosombo dam was completed in 1965, it disrupted the lives of more than 80,000 people whose homes were flooded . These people were moved into re-settlement townships and given Government help in starting new enterprises. The displaced villagers took part in an agricultural development programme to improve cotton, tobacco and vegetable crops and increase production of pigs, poultry and fish.
