🚨 Southern Ocean Carbon Layer Is Rising Toward The Surface 🚨 A deep water mass filled with centuries of carbon is moving upward through the Southern Ocean. It has already climbed more than 80 meters in under twenty years and now sits less than 200 meters from the open air. The surface layer that once kept it sealed is thinning. Salt levels are increasing. The pressure is building below. Once the deep layer reaches the top, the carbon will be released into the atmosphere without delay. #Souther
