Our Tabernacle organ continues its repairs this summer and recently received a shipment of brand-new parts. When asked about this particular installment, Joseph Nielsen told us: “These parts are rebuilt from the lower chests within the organ. They belong directly under the pipes. When the organist plays, these valves collapse and let the air into the pipes. Good as new!” The Tabernacle Choir is practicing and performing at the Conference Center this summer while these repairs are underway. Join

In the historic Tabernacle organ, many reservoirs provide pressurized air to the organ pipes. Production staff noticed an unusual sound, and upon further investigation, found the leather on one of the reservoirs had rotted. Joseph, our master organ technician, and his team removed two original 157-year-old, 12-foot Tabernacle pipes and the afflicted reservoir to replace the leather and return the reservoir and the pipes for another 50 years of reliability. | The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square
