This is a real story from 12th century France. Pierre Abélard and Héloïse d'Argenteuil were two prominent medieval philosophers. They had a son called Astrolabe (an eccentric name even for the time). They continued writing to each other even after being cloistered. Seven letters between Abelard and Héloïse survived (three written by Abelard, and four by Héloïse). I will always remember this tale as one of the first historical romances I’ve ever read about. #history #art #painting
