Hiking Western Maryland Rail Trail in Big Pool, Maryland. The Western Maryland was completed here in 1892, with a bridge over the Potomac River and C&O Canal to connect with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in Cherry Run, West Virginia. The Western Subdivision to Cumberland was completed in 1906, and thectrail follows this.
